Question: How can I stop telemarketers from calling my cell phone?
Answer: Our business phone number is on the “Do Not Call Registry,” but there are thousands of telemarketers from all over the world and the Do Not Call Registry simply can’t stop them all from calling. Especially the ones located outside of the United States. Most service providers offer call blocking if you pay an extra fee each month, but I’ve devised my own method for deterring unwanted sales calls. After you hang-up from a telemarketer call, add their phone number to your contacts list. In the contact name area just type in something like, recorded sales call, selling insurance, asked for the business owner, selling advertisements, etc… Then give all of these calls the same special ring tone. Even if you tell these people not to call you back or you hang-up on them, they almost always call you back anyway. This way, you’ll at least only have to talk to them once. When your phone rings with the special ringtone you’ve given the telemarketers, you know not to answer it. Eventually, they get tired of not getting a person to bother and they quit calling your number. I have collected hundreds of phone numbers this way and it’s amazing how often the telemarketer ring tone goes off on my phone. This method works and it doesn’t add any extra costs to your monthly phone bill.
