Customers often ask me why they still get malware in their computer when they have an up-to-date paid version of Kaspersky, Norton, McAfee, AVG, etc… antivirus program installed. First of all, it’s imperative that everyone have an up-to-date and set to automatically scan antivirus installed on their PC. However, this won’t always prevent your computer from getting malware. New malware is being released into the wild everyday, so it’s impossible for antivirus companies to be able to instantly protect you from each new threat or variant of old malware that is being unleashed on the public by the thousands everyday. The antivirus companies have to obtain a copy of the computer virus and then write a software fix or patch for it. The time lag between when the new malware is released and the time when the antivirus company writes a patch for it is when your computer is vulnerable to getting the virus in spite of having an antivirus program installed.
