Before upgrading to Windows 10, be aware that your Blu-rays will no longer play. Microsoft offers a $15.00 app that will make all of your regular DVDs play but not Blu-rays. You’ll have to purchase third party software if you want to watch Blu-rays.
One of my customers has an extensive collection of Blu-rays and when she upgraded to Windows 10, she was upset that Microsoft hadn’t made it clear that if she upgraded to 10 she wouldn’t be able to play those anymore.
I found a couple of programs that promise to play Blu-rays on Windows 10. The one that worked for my customer is called aiseesoftblu-ray player. www.aiseesoft.com I downloaded the trial version first to make sure it would work and it finally did. However, before it would play Blu-rays I had to update the firmware on her computer’s Blu-ray player. The program costs $45.00 for a life time key.
You’d think if your computer was not going to function, at least as well as it did before you upgraded, Microsoft would have let people know. I couldn’t find any information published by Microsoft that clarified when or if support for Blu-rays will ever be provided by them.
